I think this is a disgusting case of maladministration. Have you lodged a formal complaint to the Local Government Ombudsman yet ? You should do this straight away. Dont let the local authority get away with this.

Get a lawyer on them. This is wrong in SO many ways. Ive read the press release and if it is factually correct- of course it is maladministration. Not only that but there is a whiff of corruption about how some of the latter decisions were made only after the Tory councillor got involved. But after the expense scandals- should we be surprised?
There must be a strong case for getting the money spent refunded by the council.

How can they let that amount of money be spent before they decide against you?

There is more than a whiff of corruption, I can smell it here in the neighbouring county! Reading the articles, they admit to delays in replys and issuing consent. Once again, I find it incredible that anybody, let alone a governing body could let such money be expended prior to taking action to contradict their own decission. This will be a serious loss to their community - loss of such a building, loss of employment and ultimately a blur on their area...very much a case of "are you local?"

Dont you think the word maladministration is a little "mild". I could call it criminal action. The police should investigate the Council. This is the worst case of Council deception and bad management I have ever heard of.

All the evidence points towards Council negligence. It seems weird the way the Council rubber stamped everything only to enforce demolition later on. There is more to this than meets the eye. Usually politics are involved in such cases.....
